Google’s New Ad Format for mobile devices with Location Extensions features

Friday, July 30th, 2010

This time Google, with a view to help businesses reach potential customers through mobile ads, has launched New Ad Format with Map Features.

How does it help a business?

With the use of New Ad Format with location extensions, a business can specify its locations and display phone numbers on an expandable map Ad.

How does it work?

The Ad campaign needs to be opted into the Google Display Network and the New Format will make ads appear as Banner Text ad containing the Business icon or logo, which if expanded will display:

  • Location of the business on Google map
  • Ad Creative
  • Click To Call Number
  • Option to go the website

Compatibility

The New Ad Format is compatible with mobile devices having full Internet browsers.

Benefit

It makes it easier to target those local users who make use of their mobiles for searching information regarding products or services or any other thing whatsoever.

It offers several opportunities to the consumers to connect to a business, thus the latter can get huge traffic of mobile users.

The biggest advantage is that a business is charged only when a user clicks To Call or to visit the website and not when a user clicks to expand the map or for getting directions.

Not it is to be seen how far this feature proves beneficial to both Google and business owners.
