Points to remember while optimizing a website for Google
Saturday, October 23rd, 2010Nothing can underestimate the value of Google as search engine and its importance especially the online businesses. Therefore the first aim of a business is to get a high rank for its website in Google. Here are some points that will help you achieve top Google ranking if you use them while optimization.
Remember that:
- Google ranks those websites that offer useful and meaningful content to the users. So if your website has relevant content which is also of utility to a user, then Google will definitely rank you.
- If your website is able to get reviews from visitors and other user generated content, it increases the chances of being ranked. Thus make room for users to write reviews or positive comments.
- Links are important but the primary importance should be given to optimizing the site for users because if they find the links to your website valuable, the Google will also.
- Age of the website does matter but do remember that if your website has something interesting to offer that adds value, Google will rank it.
- There is no need to be afraid of Google Caffeine as it has nothing to be with ranking.
- Seek the help of Google Webmaster Central to resolve any query regarding your website
- Analyze search query data and look at search results to see where your site ranks. Find those keywords that best describe your business or products and focus on them for SEO.
By keeping these points in mind, you can optimize your site to achieve a high rank in the search engine giant, Google.
Where is Google Caffeine?
Tuesday, May 4th, 2010The much hyped new search tool by Google called Caffeine, which was also touted as Google’s secret project, after an initial preview in August last year is showing no signs of a launch though several months have passed. It was considered to be an updated version of the search engine for which Google created a sandbox at www2.sandbox.google.com and asked people to give feedback. Though it created quite an interest but the delay in its launch has made people grow skeptical and there is no final announcement from Google regarding its going LIVE yet.
As coming from Google, it was tested and compared to the older version on parameters such as Speed, Accuracy, Index Size and Temporal Relevancy. As it seems that Google Caffeine will still take time, let us undertake a quick recap on how it faired on the above mentioned scales:
Speed: It checks the ability of a search engine to load results. In comparison Google Caffeine was found to show results faster than the older version.
Accuracy: Accuracy is related to the effectiveness of search engine to show precise results for search terms. Google Caffeine gain scored higher as it showed more accurate results which were quite in sync with what the user would like to get.
Temporal Relevancy: It relates to the ability of search engine to incorporate breaking news. It was found to be the same.
Index Size: It counts the number of results captured by search engines for particular search. Again Google Caffeine scored high leaving behind the older version.
Though it performed better but the time taken by Google to make it active may derail the interest of users as many have already started asking “Where is Google Caffeine?” we hope that Google puts arrest to all speculations and give users the opportunity to use the enhanced version.
